Indications
Super Levitra combines a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor (vardenafil) with dapoxetine. It is used to help men achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity. The dapoxetine component is an on-demand selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor intended for premature ejaculation in certain countries, but note the US legal notes.
Only use this medicine if a clinician has confirmed ED and advised this specific combination. If you need dosing details, see Dosage and adjustments.
Instructions for use
Take Super Levitra exactly as your prescriber directs. General guidance:
- It may be taken with or without food; a high-fat meal could delay onset.
- Do not take more than once in a 24-hour period unless your clinician has given different instructions.
- Plan to take it about 1 hour before sexual activity.
- If you miss a planned dose and still intend to have sex, take it when you remember, but do not double up.
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice unless your clinician says it is safe; these can alter drug levels.
Questions about timing or meals? See drug and food interactions and speak with your pharmacist.
Dosage and adjustments
Follow the prescription provided by your healthcare professional. The appropriate dose varies based on age, concurrent medications, and medical conditions.
- Patients using certain interacting medicines may need a lower starting dose and may be limited to one dose in a 72-hour window.
- Older adults (over 65 years) or those with impaired liver function often require a lower starting dose.
- Men taking alpha-blockers for prostate enlargement or hypertension may need dose separation and a lower initial dose to reduce the risk of low blood pressure.
If your situation changes (new medicines, new diagnoses), ask your prescriber if your regimen should be adjusted. For storage details, go to Storage.
Storage
Store at room temperature, ideally around 25°C (77°F). Short excursions 15-30°C (59-86°F) are typically acceptable. Keep the medication in its original container, tightly closed, away from moisture and excessive heat. Store out of reach of children and pets.
Do not use Super Levitra if any of the following apply
- You take any nitrate medicines (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide) or nitroprusside, or you use recreational nitrates (poppers).
- You are allergic to vardenafil, dapoxetine, or any tablet component.
- Your doctor has advised you to avoid sexual activity due to heart disease.
- You are currently on another PDE5 inhibitor (for example sildenafil or tadalafil) or any medicine already containing vardenafil.
- You have severe liver disease, severe kidney disease requiring dialysis, very low or very high blood pressure, or certain serious heart conditions (such as severe heart failure or unstable angina).
- You have had a heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening arrhythmia within the past 6 months.
- You have specific hereditary eye disorders (for example retinitis pigmentosa).
- You have a history of long QT syndrome or take certain antiarrhythmic agents known to prolong QT (for example amiodarone, quinidine, procainamide, sotalol).
If any of these apply, contact your clinician immediately for advice.
Warnings and precautions
Certain conditions can increase risks. Inform your prescriber if any of the following describe you:
- History of long QT syndrome, prior heart attack or stroke, or a family history of long QT.
- Any penile anatomical issues (such as Peyronie disease or cavernosal fibrosis), blood disorders (sickle cell disease, leukemia, multiple myeloma), or prior prolonged erections.
- Eye conditions (macular degeneration, optic neuropathy, retinitis pigmentosa) or any sudden vision loss; hearing loss or tinnitus.
- Liver or kidney impairment; high or low blood pressure; active ulcers; seizures; bleeding or blood vessel problems; lung issues such as pulmonary veno-occlusive disease; or other heart problems (angina, aortic stenosis, heart failure).
- Any allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances; or if you use herbal products or supplements.
- You are taking any prescription, OTC, or herbal medicines. Provide a complete list to your healthcare provider.
For interacting medicines, see Drug interactions.
Drug and food interactions
Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines you use. Notable interactions include:
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as certain azole antifungals (e.g., itraconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin), HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, indinavir), or telithromycin, which can raise vardenafil levels and side-effect risk.
- Alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin) and other blood pressure medicines, which can increase the chance of symptomatic low blood pressure (dizziness, fainting).
- Rifampin, which may reduce effectiveness by lowering vardenafil concentrations.
- Certain antiarrhythmics (e.g., amiodarone, quinidine, procainamide, sotalol), which may increase the risk of abnormal heart rhythms, especially in people with long QT risk.
Grapefruit products can increase drug levels; discuss with your prescriber before use. This list is not complete. Never start, stop, or change any medicine without medical advice.
Possible side effects
Many people tolerate the medicine well. Common reactions can include headache, flushing, nasal congestion or runny nose, heartburn, nausea, dizziness, and stomach upset.
Seek urgent medical help if you notice: signs of severe allergy (hives, rash, swelling of lips/tongue/face, trouble breathing), chest pain, fainting, very rapid/slow/irregular heartbeat, memory changes, numbness in an arm or leg, a painful or prolonged erection lasting over 4 hours, ringing in the ears, seizures, sudden severe back or muscle pain, severe or persistent dizziness, sudden vision changes or vision loss in one or both eyes, sudden hearing loss, or a sudden severe headache or vomiting.
This is not a full list. If side effects worry you, contact your healthcare provider. For safety basics, see Who should not use it.
Alternatives and similar medications
Depending on your health profile and goals (ED alone vs ED plus PE), a prescriber may consider:
- Sildenafil (Viagra and generics) - PDE5 inhibitor with 4-6 hour duration; widely available in 25/50/100 mg.
- Tadalafil (Cialis and generics) - longer duration (up to 36 hours); dosing options include daily low-dose (2.5-5 mg) or on-demand (10-20 mg). Daily use may help some men with both ED and PE symptoms.
- Vardenafil alone (Levitra generics) - similar to sildenafil; often 10-20 mg on demand.
- Avanafil (Stendra) - faster onset for some; typically 50-200 mg on demand.
- For PE specifically: topical anesthetic sprays/creams (lidocaine/prilocaine), behavioral techniques, and off-label SSRIs (e.g., sertraline, paroxetine) when appropriate. Note: dapoxetine is not FDA-approved in the USA (see Legal status).
- Combination approaches (for example, a PDE5 inhibitor plus a topical PE treatment) may be used under clinician guidance instead of fixed-dose combo tablets.
Choice depends on response, side effects, cost, and medical conditions. Discuss pros and cons with your clinician, and review Prices for cost considerations.
Typical prices in the USA (rough comparison)
Approximate out-of-pocket prices per tablet before coupons or insurance (actual costs vary by pharmacy, discount programs, and dose):
- Generic sildenafil 50-100 mg: about $1 - $10 per tablet (bulk/discount pricing on the lower end).
- Brand Viagra 50-100 mg: roughly $70 - $90 per tablet.
- Generic tadalafil 10-20 mg: about $1 - $15 per tablet; daily 5 mg tablets often $0.50 - $3 each with discounts.
- Brand Cialis 10-20 mg: roughly $75 - $90 per tablet.
- Generic vardenafil 10-20 mg: about $3 - $15 per tablet; branded Levitra availability is limited and often higher priced when stocked.
- Avanafil (Stendra) 100-200 mg: about $60 - $75 per tablet.
- Super Levitra (vardenafil + dapoxetine) via non-US online sources: commonly advertised around $2 - $7 per tablet depending on quantity, but products may not be FDA-approved; quality and legality vary. See Legal status before purchase.
Use reputable pharmacies and consider manufacturer savings programs or legitimate discount cards. Telehealth subscriptions may reduce per-tablet costs for generics. Prices are in USD.
Legal status and purchasing rules in the USA
- Prescription requirement: PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, avanafil) are prescription-only in the USA. A valid US prescription is required for lawful dispensing.
- Dapoxetine approval: Dapoxetine is not FDA-approved in the USA. Fixed-dose combinations like Super Levitra are not FDA-approved products.
- Importation: Personal importation of non-FDA-approved drugs is generally prohibited. The FDA may exercise discretion in very limited cases involving serious conditions and no US alternatives; erectile dysfunction typically does not meet those criteria. Shipments can be detained by customs.
- Online pharmacies: Use only licensed US pharmacies. Look for state board licensure and programs such as NABP’s .pharmacy domain or other recognized verification. Avoid sites offering prescription medicines without a valid prescription.
- Use and sharing: For adults only. Do not share prescription medicines. Operating machinery or driving should be avoided if you feel dizzy or drowsy, which can occur with dapoxetine.
- Telehealth: US telemedicine services can legally prescribe FDA-approved ED medicines after an appropriate evaluation.
If you are unsure about legality or safety, consult your clinician or pharmacist. For non-US-approved combinations, discuss safer, US-legal alternatives described under Alternatives.
