What is Kamagra Effervescent?

Active ingredient: sildenafil citrate.

Available strength: 100 mg per effervescent tablet.

Intended use: Kamagra Effervescent is used for the management of erectile dysfunction (ED). Sildenafil enhances blood flow to the penile tissue during sexual stimulation, supporting the physiologic process that leads to an erection.

ED has many causes, including vascular, neurologic, hormonal, and psychological factors. Kamagra Effervescent addresses the vascular component by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme. For details on optimal dosing, see Recommended dose. For safety cautions, jump to Important safety information.

How to take Kamagra Effervescent

Always follow your prescriber's directions. The following usage tips are general:

  • Do not exceed 1 dose in 24 hours unless your clinician has advised otherwise.
  • Expected timing: peak effects typically occur 30 to 120 minutes after taking a dose.
  • Sexual stimulation is required. The medicine does not trigger an erection on its own.
  • To prepare: drop 1 tablet into a small glass of water. Stir gently. When fully dissolved (usually within 1 to 2 minutes), drink the solution.
  • Missed a dose? If you still plan sexual activity, take it when remembered. Do not take extra doses to make up for a missed dose.

Food, especially high-fat meals, may delay onset. Alcohol can increase dizziness and reduce erectile response; consider limiting alcohol when using sildenafil.

Recommended dose

The typical single dose of Kamagra Effervescent is 100 mg taken about 30 to 60 minutes before planned sexual activity. Do not take more than 100 mg in any 24 hour period. Your clinician may suggest a different dose based on tolerability or concurrent medications.

Unsure how to personalize your dose? Discuss it with your health care provider and review drug interactions and safety considerations.

Storage instructions

Keep at controlled room temperature, 59 to 86 F (15 to 30 C). Protect from heat, light, and moisture. Store out of reach of children and pets.

Do not use Kamagra Effervescent if any of the following apply

  • You take nitrates such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide, or you use nitroprusside.
  • You have been told by a health care professional to avoid sexual activity due to heart disease.
  • You are using recreational nitrates called poppers (amyl or butyl nitrite).
  • You are allergic to sildenafil or any component of the tablet.
  • You are taking another PDE5 inhibitor (for example, tadalafil, vardenafil) or any medicine that already contains sildenafil.

If any of the above is true, stop and contact your prescriber immediately.

Medical conditions to report to your clinician

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your full medical history before use, including:

  • Penile anatomical issues (Peyronie disease, cavernosal fibrosis) or blood disorders increasing priapism risk (sickle cell anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma).
  • History of prolonged or painful erections.
  • Eye disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, optic neuropathy, or any history of sudden vision loss; or hearing problems including tinnitus or hearing loss.
  • Kidney or liver impairment; stomach ulcers or bleeding disorders.
  • Lung disease including pulmonary veno-occlusive disease.
  • Cardiovascular conditions: prior heart attack, stroke, significant arrhythmias (especially within the past 6 months), angina, aortic stenosis, heart failure, or uncontrolled blood pressure.
  • Allergies to medicines, foods, or excipients; current use of prescription, OTC, herbal, or dietary supplements.

Drug and supplement interactions

Some medicines can increase side effects or reduce efficacy. Always provide your pharmacist with a complete medication list.

  • Alpha blockers or antihypertensives (for example, doxazosin): may cause symptomatic low blood pressure with dizziness or fainting.
  • Strong CYP3A inhibitors such as ritonavir, saquinavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, telithromycin, or cimetidine: can raise sildenafil levels and side effect risk.
  • Nitrates or nitroprusside: combination is contraindicated due to severe hypotension risk.
  • Rifampin or bosentan: may lower sildenafil exposure and reduce effect.
  • Opioid analgesics such as dihydrocodeine: may add to dizziness or sedation.

This is not a complete list. Check with your clinician before starting, changing, or stopping any medication.

Important safety information

  • Vision or hearing changes can occur rarely (including sudden loss). If you notice decreased vision, a blue/green color tint, light sensitivity, ringing in the ears, or sudden hearing loss, stop use and get urgent care.
  • Cardiac warning: sexual activity can stress the heart. If you develop chest, jaw, or arm pain; shortness of breath; severe dizziness; nausea; or fainting, seek emergency care.
  • Priapism alert: an erection lasting more than 4 hours can cause permanent damage. Go to an emergency department immediately.
  • Drowsiness, blurred vision, or lightheadedness may occur, and alcohol can worsen these effects. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know your response.
  • Heat, fever, or intense exercise can amplify dizziness. Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions.
  • Not for children; use in older adults may require extra monitoring.
  • Does not prevent STIs or pregnancy. Use barrier protection to reduce STI risk and effective contraception if pregnancy prevention is desired.
  • Do not combine with other ED therapies unless your prescriber approves.

For storage advice, see How to store. For dosing details, return to Recommended dose.

Possible side effects

Common, often mild: headache, flushing, nasal stuffiness, dizziness, heartburn or indigestion, diarrhea, upset stomach.

Serious, seek medical help right away: signs of a severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, swelling of lips or tongue, trouble breathing), chest pain, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, new weakness or numbness on one side, memory loss or confusion, seizures, ringing in the ears, severe or persistent visual changes, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes, painful or prolonged erection.

This is not a complete side-effect list. If symptoms persist or worry you, contact a clinician.

Similar and alternative medications

Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. Other FDA-approved PDE5 inhibitors for ED in the USA include:

  • Viagra (brand sildenafil) and generic sildenafil tablets: similar active ingredient; multiple strengths available.
  • Cialis (tadalafil): longer duration, can be used as needed or once-daily low dose.
  • Levitra and Staxyn (vardenafil): comparable onset and duration to sildenafil; orally disintegrating form available for Staxyn.
  • Stendra (avanafil): faster onset in some users; may be taken closer to activity.

Non-oral options for selected patients include vacuum erection devices, intracavernosal injections (alprostadil or combination agents), and intraurethral alprostadil. Choice depends on comorbidities, side-effect profile, onset preference, and cost. Discuss these options with a urologist if tablets are not suitable.

Approximate US prices (USD)
