GOVERNMENT
The Town of Selbyville is a municipal corporation of the State of Delaware. It is governed by five (5) councilmen who shall serve a term of two (2) years. All councilmen serve at large. The election of three (3) councilmen is held in odd number years and the election of two (2) councilmen is held in even number years. One serves as the Mayor of Selbyville. They have the legislative power to provide police protection, and to develop and adopt ordinances relating to parking, zoning, traffic, signs, and construction and property maintenance codes.
Town elections are held on the first Saturday of March. Town meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall.
PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
Their primary duties are to adopt an official map pursuant to the statute and to act on matters placed before them by charter or the Town Council. The Commission consists of the Building Commissioner and four residents of the Town.

Meeting starts @ 4:00 PM
Meeting Place: Town Hall, 68 W. Church Street

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The Board of Adjustment consists of our Mayor, one (1) councilman and the Town’s solicitor. Their responsibilities include: 1) Hearing and deciding appeals on errors of zoning or inspection. 2) Hearing and deciding special exceptions. 3) Authorizing variances when appropriate.
INDUSTRIAL PARK COMMITTEE
This committee consists of 2 Councilmen and five (5) residents of the Town.
Meeting Time: Second (2nd) Wednesday of each month
Meeting starts @ 4:00 PM
Meeting Place: Town Hall, 68 W. Church Street
You must request to be on the agenda no later than the last Wednesday of the previous month.
TOWN MEETINGS
First Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall. Please note: If this date is a holiday then the meeting will be held on the second Monday of the month.
TOWN ELECTION
The Town election is always held the first Saturday in March, from 11 AM to 4 PM. The deadline for registering to vote or to be a candidate is February 10th (or the previous workday if the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday).
